How do I add my allergies? Does SOS warn me?

Mental health and wellness

Add them in Allergy Tracker; SOS flags matches in recipes and meal plans, but not when you log food.

This needs an account. Sign in to the app first.

Steps

  1. Open Wellness and tap Allergy Tracker in the Medical & Clinical group.
  2. Open the My Allergies tab and tap Add Allergy.
  3. Type the Allergen Name, or tap Suggest to pick one. Choose the Allergen Type, Diagnosis Status and Severity.
  4. Pick Typical Reactions and add Avoidance Notes if you want. For Severe or Anaphylactic, there is also an Emergency Action Plan box.
  5. Tap Save.

Where SOS checks your list

Recipe Browser, recipe details, My Recipes and the Meal Planner mark an item when its ingredient names match an allergy on your list. The Food Sensitivities screen uses the same list. It can also scan your last 14 days of diary entries for matching words, but only after you have logged them.

Where SOS does not check

The Food Diary, the Diet Log, the Food Database, barcode look-ups and Log Food on Home do not check your allergy list. SOS will not warn you when you log a food you are allergic to.

Even where it checks, it can miss

The match reads ingredient names. It can miss hidden sources such as sauces and packaged foods. It never replaces reading the label.

In an emergency

SOS cannot call for help for you. If someone has a serious allergic reaction, call 911 right away. Do not wait for a screen. When you log a reaction on the Log tab and pick Anaphylaxis as the severity, the screen shows a Signs of Anaphylaxis box. That box has a Call 911 button.

The Emergency Action Plan box holds notes you write. SOS does not check them. Follow the plan your doctor gave you.

What happens next

Your allergy list is saved to your account, and other members cannot see it.
