Editorial policy
This page says how the public pages of Solution Oriented Society are written, sourced, dated and corrected, and what we do not claim.
Who publishes these pages
The public pages on sosforchange.org are published by Solution Oriented Society, which is operated by SOS Media, LLC. We do not name individual authors on them. We do not claim that a doctor, lawyer, financial adviser or any other professional wrote or reviewed them.
What these pages are for
SOS is an educational tool. It is not a doctor, therapist, financial adviser, lawyer or crisis service. The pages explain what the tools in the app do and answer common questions about using them. Use them to learn and to keep track of your own life, and check anything important with a qualified person.
Sources and statistics
When a page states a statistic, it names where the figure comes from: the organisation or publication, and the year. If we cannot find a source for a number, we remove the number instead of keeping it. We do not promise results.
Guides list their sources at the end of the page, with a link where the source is online.
The lists of tools on these pages are built from the app's own list of tools, and the help answers are built from the help text inside the app.
Dates and how we keep pages current
Help answers show the date they were last checked against the app. Other pages show the date they were last reviewed. A date means we compared the page with the app or with its sources on that day. It does not mean a professional has reviewed the page.
We do not claim professional review for any page, and a person has not checked every page, so some content may be out of date or wrong. Check anything important with a qualified person or a source you trust.
Health, legal and money topics
Pages about health, law or money are for education. They are not medical, legal or financial advice, and they do not replace a qualified professional who knows your situation.
Crisis information
SOS is not an emergency or crisis service. Every page ends with the same short list of lines for the United States: 911 in an emergency, 988 to call or text, and the Crisis Text Line, where you text HOME to 741741.
We do not write phone numbers from memory. The numbers in our help answers come from a fixed list that is checked every time the help text is built.
Corrections and removal requests
If you find something wrong, out of date or unfair, write to admin@sosforchange.org with the address of the page and what you think should change. To ask us to remove something about you, use the same address. We read every message. We can't promise a reply time.
