This page was rewritten on 7 October 2026 to match what the app actually does. The operator and a lawyer have not reviewed it yet, and the parts marked "To be completed" are still open.
SOS is an educational tool. It is not a doctor, therapist, financial adviser, lawyer or crisis service. Use it to learn and to keep track of your own life, and check anything important with a qualified person. You own what you enter. You must be at least 13 to use SOS, and the finance tools are for adults (18 and over).
1 Acceptance of these terms
By downloading, installing, opening or using the Solution Oriented Society app and website ("SOS", "the App" or "the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms are an agreement between you and SOS Media, LLC, a Colorado limited liability company, which runs the service as Solution Oriented Society ("we", "us"). Section 1 of the Privacy Policy says how to reach us.
2 Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account and use SOS. When you create an account you confirm this. SOS does not check your age.
- The finance tools (investment tracking, retirement planning, options analysis, tax planning and net worth) are meant for adults, 18 and over. Do not use them if you are younger.
- If you are under 18, please read these Terms and the Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian.
- You need to be able to enter an agreement where you live.
- If you use SOS for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to agree to these Terms for it.
We may suspend or close an account that we believe belongs to someone who does not meet these requirements.
3 Your account
3.1 Creating an account
To use most features you need an account with a valid email address and a password. Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
3.2 Keeping it secure
You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for what happens under your account. If you think someone has got into your account, change your password and write to admin@sosforchange.org.
3.3 One account per person
Each person may have one account. Do not create an account for someone else without their permission.
3.4 Your public username
The public username you choose at sign-up and the profile details you add can be seen by other members. If you would rather not be identified, do not use your real name.
4 Not medical, financial or legal advice
Important: please read
- SOS is not a medical device. The health tracking tools, wellness content, symptom information and trackers are for education and information only. They are not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and they do not create a doctor-patient relationship.
- SOS is not a licensed health-care provider. Nothing in SOS replaces advice, diagnosis or treatment from a qualified doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, registered dietitian or other licensed professional.
- SOS is not a financial adviser. Budget tools, investment information, retirement calculators and other money content are for education only. Nothing in SOS is investment, financial-planning or tax advice, or an offer to buy or sell anything.
- SOS is not a lawyer. Legal content (estate planning, rights information and so on) is general information. It is not legal advice and does not create a lawyer-client relationship.
- Check with qualified people before decisions about your health, money, legal matters or wellbeing. What you read in SOS may not fit your situation.
By using SOS you accept these limits. Please do not put off getting professional help because of something you read in the app.
5 Not a crisis service
In an emergency, call 911 (US) or your local emergency number. In the US, if you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line). For a poisoning in the US, call Poison Control on 1-800-222-1222. Outside the US, find a local line at findahelpline.com. SOS cannot monitor how you are doing or respond to an emergency.
The mental health, emotional wellness and recovery tools in SOS are for general educational support when you are not in crisis. They do not replace crisis services, emergency care or professional mental health treatment.
6 AI-assisted content
SOS does not use AI on your data today, and some of its content was made with AI help. By using SOS you understand that:
- There is no AI coach in the app, and the app does not send anything you enter to an AI company. If that ever changes, we will say so on this page and in the AI Disclosure first, and ask you before anything you write is sent anywhere.
- Much of the app's educational content was drafted with AI help, including Claude, and a person has not reviewed every page. It can be wrong or out of date.
- Nothing in SOS is professional advice of any kind. Check anything important with a qualified person or an authoritative source.
- SOS itself was built with AI assistance; the AI Disclosure explains how.
- If AI features are ever added, this section will describe them before they are switched on.

8 Intellectual property
8.1 Our property
The SOS app, including its design, features, content, trademarks, logos and underlying technology, belongs to SOS Media, LLC (operating as Solution Oriented Society) and is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. Do not copy, reproduce, distribute or make derivative works from our content without written permission.
8.2 Your licence to use the app
We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the SOS app for your own personal, non-commercial purposes under these Terms.
8.3 Feedback
If you send feedback, ideas or suggestions about the Service, you give us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use them without any obligation to you.
9 Your content and data
You keep ownership of what you enter into SOS (health logs, journal entries, money records, recipes and so on). We do not claim ownership of your personal data.
You give us permission to store, process and show that content as needed to run the Service for you. That includes showing what you post in community areas to the other members those areas are open to.
You can download much of your data (Settings, Download My Data) and delete your account (Settings, Delete Account). What happens to your data is described in sections 9 and 11 of the Privacy Policy.
10 Links and other services
SOS contains links to other websites and uses other services to provide some features. They are listed in section 6 of the Privacy Policy. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.
Your use of them is covered by their own terms and privacy policies.
11 Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Any information or content in the app is accurate, complete, reliable, or current
- The Service will meet your specific requirements or expectations
- Any defects will be corrected
Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied warranties. If this applies to you, some of the above limitations may not apply.
12 Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SOS MEDIA, LLC (OPERATING AS SOLUTION ORIENTED SOCIETY) AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:
- Loss of data or profits
- Physical injury or health outcomes resulting from reliance on app content
- Financial losses resulting from reliance on financial content in the app
- Emotional distress
- Loss of goodwill or business opportunities
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE PAST TWELVE MONTHS, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain damages. If you live in such a jurisdiction, these limitations may not apply to you.
13 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SOS Media, LLC (operating as Solution Oriented Society) and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Any content you submit through the Service
14 Ending your use
14.1 By you
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings, Delete Account. Your data is then removed as described in section 9 of the Privacy Policy, including the short period it can remain in backups.
14.2 By us
We may suspend or end your access if we believe you have broken these Terms or are misusing the Service, or if the law requires it. We may also stop offering the Service.
14.3 What continues
When your access ends, your licence to use the Service ends. The parts of these Terms on disclaimers, limits on liability, indemnification and governing law continue to apply.
15 Disputes and governing law
15.1 Talk to us first
Before taking legal action, please write to admin@sosforchange.org and give us a chance to put things right.
15.2 Consumers in the EU
If you are a consumer living in the European Union, the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country may also apply to you.
To be completed by the operator and a lawyer
Not yet decided: which organisation and which state or country's law governs these Terms, which courts hear disputes (or whether disputes go to arbitration), and the consumer-law notices needed for people outside the US. Until this is filled in, no governing law, court or arbitration clause is in force through this page.
16 Changes to these terms
We may change these Terms. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For a significant change we will tell members before it takes effect, in the app and, where email is set up, by email.
If you keep using SOS after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, you can delete your account first.
17 Contact
Questions about these terms?
One address handles general questions, account problems, privacy and data requests, and legal notices. A person reads it and replies. For a privacy request, put "Privacy request" in the subject.
You can also send us a message from the website at sosforchange.org/help/contact, no sign-in needed.
