Who can see my profile and posts?

Privacy and your data

Other members can see your name, your posts and some profile details, but not your email or date of birth.

Your profile

Other signed-in members can see your public username, your name or display name, and your level.

In the member directory they can find you by your name and by the interests you picked.

They may also see the bio, location, skills you offer and what you are seeking that you add. The note under Listed in the member directory on Edit Profile says whether they can right now.

Your email address and your date of birth are not shown to other members.

If you would rather not be identified, do not use your real name.

Your posts

Posts and replies in community areas can be seen by the members those areas are open to.

Who can find you

The Edit Profile screen in the Community area has a Who can find you choice. Listed in the member directory lets other members find you by searching. Not listed keeps you out of the search.

SOS keeps accounts that it knows are under 18, and paused accounts, out of the member directory. Those accounts are always Not listed.

Your name can still show on things you post. The note under Not listed says who else still sees your name.

Edit Profile also has Privacy Settings. The screen says some of these choices are not applied everywhere in the app yet. Do not rely on them to hide something you want to keep private.

Staff and the operator

Staff with an admin or manager role can see your account details, such as your email, name and profile.

They can also see feedback you send, emails you send to SOS, reports about content and Usage Analytics rows. They can see any moderation notes about an account.

The person who runs the server can technically read anything stored there.

Private records and messages

Your health, sleep, journal and money records can be opened only by your own account in the app.

Direct messages are stored on SOS's server. They are not end-to-end encrypted.
