How do I delete my account?

Privacy and your data

Open Settings, tap Delete Account, then type DELETE and your password.

This needs an account. Sign in to the app first.

Steps

  1. If you want a copy of your data, download it first. Deleting your account cannot be undone. The Encrypted Vault and other entries kept only on this device are erased from it too.
  2. Open Settings and scroll to the bottom. Tap Delete Account.
  3. Read what will be deleted and what stays.
  4. Type DELETE in the first box.
  5. Type your password in the second box.
  6. Tap Permanently delete my account.

Other places to find it

The same screen opens from Settings, then Security, where it is called Delete Account.

It also opens from Settings, then Privacy & Security, where it is called Delete My Account and Data.

If it does not work

If your password is not accepted, you see "That password is not correct." Nothing is deleted.

SOS removes your public profile card first. If it cannot, the message says your account was not deleted. Try again in a moment, or write to admin@sosforchange.org from your account email address.

If the server refuses, your account stays active. The message tells you to write to admin@sosforchange.org from your account email address.

If the connection drops, the message says it could not confirm whether the deletion finished. If you can no longer sign in, your account was deleted.

If you have no password on this account, or a question first, write to admin@sosforchange.org from your account email address.

What happens next

Your account and most of its data are removed from the live service as soon as you confirm, and this device is cleared. A few shared items stay, and backups can keep a copy for up to 14 days. The related article lists what stays.
