SOS won't load or the page is blank

Fix a problem

Check your connection, reload the page, then repair the app files from the Help status page.

Steps

  1. Check your connection. Open another website. If it does not load either, fix your Wi-Fi or mobile data first, and turn off airplane mode.
  2. Wait a little. The first visit on a slow connection can take longer, and the loading screen says so after a few seconds.
  3. Reload the page with your browser's reload button. If you added SOS to your home screen, close it and open it again.
  4. Close every SOS tab and window, then open SOS again.
  5. Try a private window or another browser. If SOS opens there, the saved files in your first browser are probably the cause.
  6. In the first browser, open the Help status page and repair the app files. If SOS will not open at all, clear this site's data as a last resort. That deletes your Encrypted Vault and entries kept only on this device.
  7. Still stuck? Write to admin@sosforchange.org and tell us your device, your browser and what you see. We can't promise a reply time.

Match what you see

A blank page: do steps 1 to 5.

The SOS logo with a moving bar for a long time: your connection may be slow or weak. Wait, then do step 3.

The words This page couldn't load: that is a different card. The article about it explains what to tap.

SOS opens but looks old: the article about the old version covers that.

If you can open the Help Center

Open the Help status page. It checks whether SOS can be reached from your device. If it can, tap Repair the app files.

This downloads the app files again. Your saved entries stay, and you stay signed in if Keep me signed in is ticked.

If repairing does not help, the article on clearing saved files has the steps for clearing site data. It also says what that removes.

If even Help will not open

A plain copy of the Help Center is at https://sosforchange.org/help.html. It opens even when the app does not.

If you need help right now

If you need to talk to someone now: Call or text 988 at any time to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. You can also text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line. If you are in danger right now, call 911.

What happens next

Once SOS opens, you are still signed in if Keep me signed in was ticked and you did not clear the site's data.
