How do I put SOS on my phone's home screen?

Fix a problem

On an iPhone use Share then Add to Home Screen, and on Android use the menu then Install app.

Steps

  1. Open SOS in your browser. On an iPhone use Safari. On Android use Chrome.
  2. On an iPhone, tap the Share button, which is a square with an arrow pointing up. On Android, tap the menu with three dots. On a computer, look for the install icon at the right end of the address bar.
  3. Choose Add to Home Screen on an iPhone, Install app on Android, or Install on a computer. On an iPhone you may need to scroll down in the Share menu.
  4. Confirm with Add or Install.
  5. Open SOS from the new icon.

If you do not see the option

Some browsers do not offer it. If Install app is missing on Android, look for Add to Home screen in the same menu.

On a computer, Chrome and Edge offer it. Other browsers may not.

What you get

SOS opens in its own window, without the browser bars. It is the same website, not a store app.

On some devices, pressing and holding the icon shows a Get help now shortcut. It opens SOS Mode, which works without signing in.

Good to know

Adding SOS to your home screen does not change how it works offline.

On an iPhone the home screen app can keep its own saved data. You may need to sign in again, and entries that a tool keeps only on the device may not show there.
