How do I clear the app's saved files?

Fix a problem

Repair the app files from the Help status page first, and clear site data only as a last resort.

Steps

  1. Open the Help status page and tap Repair the app files. Confirm when asked. Your saved entries stay, and you stay signed in if Keep me signed in is ticked.
  2. SOS reloads when it is done. You can repair the files once every 5 minutes.
  3. To remove saved copies that SOS can download again, tap Clear saved copies on the same page. You can also open Settings, then Privacy & Data, then Clear All Local Cache. Your entries, drafts and sign-in stay.
  4. Only if those do not help, clear this site's data in your browser. Read the warning below first.

Read this before you clear site data

Clearing site data signs you out of SOS on this device.

It also removes entries that some tools keep only on this device, such as Net Worth. Entries saved to your account are not removed. The Download My Data option does not include device-only entries, so write down anything you cannot afford to lose.

Your Encrypted Vault is kept only on this device too, so clearing site data deletes it. If you made a backup file in the vault settings, you can restore from it afterwards.

How to clear site data

Chrome or Edge on a computer: click the icon at the left of the address bar, open the site settings, then delete this site's data.

Chrome on Android: tap the icon at the left of the address bar, open the site settings, then delete the data for this site.

Safari on an iPhone: open the Settings app, find Safari (in newer versions it is under Apps), tap Advanced, then Website Data. Find SOS in the list and delete it.

These menus change between versions. If yours looks different, search your browser's help for clear site data.

After you clear it

Open SOS again and sign in. Your account and the entries saved to it are still there.
