What is SOS Mode and how do I open it?

Safety and crisis help

SOS Mode has calming tools and crisis lines, and it works without an account.

Steps

  1. On the sign-in screen, tap In crisis? Get help now. No account is needed.
  2. Signed in, open Wellness, then Mental Health. Tap SOS Mode near the top.
  3. From a quiz result that shows support options, tap SOS mode (grounding and crisis lines).
  4. From the mental health check-in, if it shows support options, tap Open SOS Mode and my safety plan.

If you need a person now

Call or text 988 at any time to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. You can also text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line. If you are in danger right now, call 911.

What is inside

The crisis lines stay at the top of every SOS Mode view.

You can choose 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding, Breathing Exercises (physiological sigh, box breathing or 4-7-8), TIPP Skills, or My Safety Plan.

There is also a link to Emotional First Aid, with more crisis lines and coping guides.

My Safety Plan

My Safety Plan has places for your warning signs, things you can do on your own, and people and places that help.

It also has places for making your space safer, what matters most to you, and up to 3 contacts you can call.

It is saved only on this device and is never uploaded. It has no lock of its own. SOS does not lock itself when you leave it.

Signed in or signed out

SOS Mode works without an account.

After you use grounding, breathing or TIPP for at least 15 seconds, it asks "How do you feel now?"

If you are signed in and you answer, the session is saved to your breathing log. If you are signed out, nothing is saved to an account.
