How do I report a post or person?

Community rules and reporting

Open the options menu, tap Report, choose what is wrong, then tap Submit Report.

This needs an account. Sign in to the app first.

Steps

  1. On a post or comment, tap the three-dot Post options button, then choose Report this post (or comment, reply or thread).
  2. In a circle or a forum, tap the Report button on the post, reply or thread.
  3. On a member's profile, tap the more button at the top and choose Report followed by their name.
  4. In a direct message, press and hold the message and choose Report. To report the whole conversation, open the menu at the top and choose Report conversation.
  5. Choose what is wrong: Spam or Scam, Harassment, Misinformation, Off-Topic, Hate Speech, Violence or Threats, Adult Content, Self-harm or suicide concern, or Other.
  6. Add more detail if you want. This note is optional and can be up to 500 characters.
  7. Tap Submit Report.

Who sees what

The person you report is not told who reported them.

Moderators can see who sent the report, what you write and what it is about.

Messages and conversations

A report about a message or a conversation attaches up to the last 12 messages, including any that were deleted. The sheet tells you before anything is sent.

The moderation tools show only those messages, not the rest of the conversation.

If someone may be in danger

Reports are reviewed by people, not in real time. If someone may be in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.

If you choose Self-harm or suicide concern, Violence or Threats, or Other, the sheet also shows crisis lines.

Already reported?

If you already reported the same thing, the sheet says so and shows where it stands. There is no need to send it again.

Blocking is separate

Blocking or muting does not tell our team anything. Report if you want a moderator to look.

What happens next

A moderator will review your report. We don't message you when a report is closed. Open the same menu later and tap Report again to see where it stands.
