What are the community rules?
Members agree to six standards, such as cause no harm and respect all people.
The six standards
Increase Wellbeing: help people move toward a better life. Support, encourage and lift each other up.
Cause No Harm: no harassment or threats. Do not treat people unfairly or make content to hurt others. This includes put-downs, gaslighting and targeting people who are vulnerable.
Act with Integrity: be honest. No lies, no tricks and no pretending to be someone else. Debate ideas, never attack people.
Respect All People: no hate speech. Do not put people down for their race, gender, religion, sexuality, disability or background.
No Criminal Activity: do not use SOS to plan or promote crimes. This includes fraud, trafficking and abuse material.
Keep It Constructive: stay on topic, be patient with newcomers and add value. Spam and self-promotion hurt everyone.
Never allowed
The standards sheet also lists what is never allowed, such as hateful language and threats.
It also lists dangerous misinformation, impersonation, sharing private information and content that promotes self-harm.
Advice and views
Do not give professional medical, financial or legal advice to other people.
Posts show the views of members, not SOS's advice.
Where you see the standards
SOS shows these standards when you create or join a circle, and asks you to agree.
The Terms of Service also list what you may not do. This includes harassing or threatening members.
If someone breaks them
You can report a post, comment, message, conversation or member. You can also block or mute a member.
The standards say that breaking them may mean your content is removed or your account is suspended.
The Terms say we may remove content, and suspend or close accounts that break the rules.
