Why does it forget me in a private window?
A private window deletes what SOS saved in your browser when you close it, so you sign in again.
Steps
- Use a normal window if you want SOS to remember you.
- On the sign-in screen, leave Keep me signed in ticked.
- Check that your browser allows site data for SOS. The Help status page checks this under Your device.
- If you use a private window anyway, sign in each time, and do not rely on tools that keep entries only on the device.
What SOS saves in your browser
On the web, SOS keeps your sign-in in your browser's site storage. Some tools also keep entries there that are not saved to your account.
What a private window does
Private and incognito windows throw that storage away when you close them. Some browsers and privacy settings also block it.
Without it, SOS cannot remember you, so you sign in again. Your Encrypted Vault is kept in the same place, so a private window loses it when you close it.
Keep me signed in
If you untick Keep me signed in, SOS asks you to sign in again after you close the browser. A reload can sign you out too.
On a shared computer that is a good choice. Sign out when you are done.
