It says too many requests or too many attempts
That means your connection asked too many times, so wait a while and try again.
Steps
- Stop tapping the button. On the sign-in screen, the Sign In button turns off and counts down for you.
- Wait until the countdown ends, then try once more. The wait is 5 seconds, or 60 seconds if it happens again within a minute.
- On other screens, wait a few minutes and try once more.
- If you asked for an email, ask for only one and wait 2 minutes before you ask again.
- If it keeps happening for hours, try another network, such as mobile data instead of Wi-Fi. Or write to admin@sosforchange.org.
Why it happens
SOS limits some actions to protect accounts. These include signing in, asking for an email and opening a link from an email.
Tapping Sign in many times in a few seconds can reach the limit.
For emails the limit is counted over a few hours. People on the same Wi-Fi, school or work connection share one count.
What you may see
"Too many tries. Wait a moment and try again." This one appears on the sign-in screen when you tap Sign In too often. The button counts down before you can try again.
"You have asked for several emails already." This one appears when you ask for an email, such as a reset link. The message says it can take a few hours.
"Too many tries from this connection in the last few minutes." This one appears when you type a sign-in code too often. It says to wait about 3 minutes, and that your password still works.
"Too many tries just now. Wait a few minutes, then try again." This one appears when you set a new password.
"Too many tries from this connection in a short time." This one appears when you change your email.
What happens next
Nothing is wrong with your account. The limit lifts by itself.
