Why do you ask my birthday and health questions?
The answers help SOS work out numbers, such as calorie needs, and check that you are 13 or older.
What each question is for
Date of birth is used for age-based health numbers. It also sets up the right protections for your account. SOS cannot check that it is true.
Sex assigned at birth is used only for health calculations, such as how many calories your body uses at rest, and for cycle tracking.
Gender identity stays on your account. It is not used in any calculation.
Height and weight are used for calorie and health number calculations. The activity question helps SOS estimate your daily calorie needs.
Food allergies are saved to your allergy list in Wellness so they are on record. You can add or change them there at any time.
You can skip
Every question on the Health Basics page is optional, and each one says what it is used for. Skip anything you would rather not share.
Your name is the one answer the setup asks for. After that, a Skip button lets you move past each page.
Who sees your answers
The setup screen says only you can see these answers and other members never do.
The person who runs the server can technically read what is stored there. The Privacy Policy explains this.
What happens next
A date of birth that makes you younger than 13 stops setup. One that makes you 13 to 17 closes some community features for now. Those are the cases where an answer changes what happens next.
