How old do I have to be to use SOS?
You need to be at least 13 to use SOS.
How SOS checks
When you create an account, SOS asks for your date of birth, or the terms ask you to confirm that you are 13 or older. The screen tells you which.
During setup SOS also asks for your date of birth. If the date makes you younger than 13, setup stops and nothing from the setup questions is saved. SOS closes the account if it was made in the last few days.
If you picked the wrong date by mistake, you can sign up again and choose the right one. SOS cannot check that a date of birth is true.
If you are under 18
The Terms ask you to read them and the Privacy Policy with a parent or guardian.
The finance tools are meant for adults (18 and over). Some parts of SOS, such as the community and direct messages, are written with adults in mind.
Parental controls
SOS has no parental controls today. The Family area can save settings for a child profile, but they do not limit what a child can see or do.
If you need to talk to someone
If you or a young person you know needs support now: Call or text 988 at any time to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. You can also text HOME to 741741 to reach the Crisis Text Line. If you are in danger right now, call 911.
