How are the tenets grouped into families?
The tenets sit in four families, so you can see which ones belong together and open any one to read it.
This needs an account. Sign in to the app first.
Steps
- Open the Human Accord screen. On Home, tap All tenets on the Tenet of the Day card.
- Scroll to the list of tenets. Each family has a heading and a short line that says what it is about.
- To see all the families together, scroll to About the Accord and tap How the tenets group together. That screen is called Families.
- Tap any tenet to read it in full.
- To practice the one-line forms, tap Start the drill. Each question shows one tenet's line with a word missing, and you choose the word.
The families
The Accord groups its tenets into four families. Each one has its own line and its own tenets.
Tend Yourself
The Human Accord screen describes it as "Your own growth: flourish, learn, create."
Its tenets are Cultivate Flourishing; Pursue Truth, Knowledge, and Growth; and Master and Create.
Care for Others
The Human Accord screen describes it as "What you owe other people: restrain, love, help, be just."
Its tenets are Minimize Unnecessary Suffering; Love Widely; Practice Active Care; and Uphold Fair Justice.
Honor the Web
The Human Accord screen describes it as "Your place in the whole: belong, defend freedom, carry the generations."
Its tenets are Honor the Interconnected Web; Champion Sovereign Freedom; and Be a Good Ancestor.
Hold Loosely
The Human Accord screen describes it as "The discipline that integrates the rest."
It has one tenet, with the same name.
Good to know
Families help you find and read the tenets. A tenet in one family can still pull against a tenet in another, and the Accord has a way to think about that.
The drill is private to you. Nothing you pick in it is saved, and you can stop at any time.
