The app says email isn't working right now

Email from SOS

SOS checked and cannot send email right now, so a link may not arrive.

Steps

  1. Wait a while and try again later. The note goes away by itself once SOS can send email again.
  2. Ask for one email only. Asking again within 2 minutes sends nothing new.
  3. If you are locked out and cannot wait, write to admin@sosforchange.org from the address you signed up with.

What the note means

SOS asks its server whether it can send email right now. The note shows when the answer is no.

The answer is no when email sending is switched off. It is also no when several recent sends failed in a row, or when the daily sending limit is nearly used up.

What the buttons do

On Forgot Password, on Find your sign-in email and when you ask for a sign-in code, you can still tap the button. The request goes through, but the email may not arrive.

Some buttons check first. On the sign-in screen these are Resend verification email and Email me a reset link.

On the reset-link page it is Send a new link. On the verification page it is Send me a new link.

When SOS says it cannot send email, these buttons ask for nothing. They show, "SOS cannot confirm that email is working right now, so a link may not arrive. Wait a few minutes and try again."

The amber note above these buttons starts, "Email may be slow right now."

What happens next

SOS checks again every little while, so the note disappears when email works.
