How does the fasting tracker work?
In Wellness, open Fasting Tracker, pick a length, tap Start Now, and tap End Fast later.
This needs an account. Sign in to the app first.
Steps
- Open Wellness. In the Lifestyle & Habits group, tap Fasting Tracker.
- On the Timer tab, under Start a New Fast, tap the length you want. You can choose Custom and type your own hours.
- Read the notes on the Start Fasting sheet. Add an intention if you want.
- Tap Start Now. The timer counts up and shows how long is left.
- To stop, tap End Fast. Choose End Fast if you reached your time, Broke Fast Early if you stopped sooner, or Continue Fasting.
Read this first
The start sheet says fasting is not for people who are pregnant or breastfeeding. It also names people who have an eating disorder history, have type 1 diabetes, or take insulin or a sulfonylurea. The Science tab has a card called Who Should NOT Fast.
If SOS recognizes a medicine you saved in Prescriptions, the screen shows a note to ask your prescriber or pharmacist before you fast. No note does not mean fasting is safe for you.
A long fast asks you to confirm first, and the app does not track very long fasts. SOS does not tell you whether fasting is right for you. A doctor can.
If fasting is hard on you
The screen asks you to stop fasting and reach out if fasting is affecting your relationship with food. It has an Eating disorder support button.
Two fasting trackers
The Fasting Tracker in Wellness saves your fasts to your account, and the Fasting Tracker tile in the Nutrition Hub opens that same screen. An older tracker that kept its history on this device only is no longer linked from the Nutrition Hub.
