How do I set up my community profile?
Open Edit Profile, add your name and what you want to share, then tap Save Profile.
This needs an account. Sign in to the app first.
Steps
- Open Edit Profile from the link on this page. Discover Your People also shows an Edit my profile button when you have not listed any interests.
- Type a Display Name. It can be up to 50 characters, and it is the only box that needs an answer.
- If you want, add a short bio of up to 200 characters, a location, and a website or social link.
- Under Who can find you, choose Listed in the member directory or Not listed.
- Pick up to 5 Pillar Interests, up to 5 Skills I Can Offer and up to 3 for What I'm Seeking.
- Choose whether your profile shows your activity, goals and streaks with Activity Visibility, Goal Visibility and Streak Visibility.
- Tap Save Profile.
Who can see it
Only signed-in members can see the member directory. It shows your name and your interests.
The note under Listed in the member directory says whether it also shows your bio, location, skills and what you are looking for.
Your email address and your date of birth are not in it.
Not listed keeps you out of the directory, so you are not shown in Discover Your People or in the search for a new message.
The screen warns that some of these choices are not used everywhere in the app yet.
A switch for more details
If you see a switch called Also show my bio, location, skills and what I'm looking for, it is off until you turn it on. When it is on, those details are shown only to members 18 and over.
The switch shows only while you are Listed. If you do not see it, that choice is not available yet. The note under Listed in the member directory says what other members see.
Members under 18
SOS keeps accounts that it knows are under 18, and paused accounts, out of the member directory. For those accounts the choice is locked to Not listed, and the screen says why.
Another Edit Profile
My Profile, from the person icon on Home, has its own Edit Profile with other fields. Other members cannot read it.
