Our Commitment to AI Transparency

We believe you deserve to know when and how artificial intelligence is involved in your experience with SOS. This document explains exactly what AI does and doesn't do in our app, its limitations, and what you should and shouldn't rely on it for.

1 What AI Does in SOS

Solution Oriented Society uses AI and machine learning in several areas of the app. Here is a transparent breakdown:

๐Ÿ“š

Educational Content

Some informational articles, tips, and explanations are drafted with AI assistance, then reviewed by our team for accuracy.

๐Ÿ’ก

Personalized Insights

AI analyzes patterns in your tracked data (with your permission) to surface observations like "your sleep score drops when you log high stress."

๐Ÿ”

Content Recommendations

AI helps surface relevant tools, exercises, recipes, and educational content based on your stated goals and usage patterns.

๐Ÿ“Š

Data Interpretation

AI helps explain what your tracked metrics may mean in general educational terms (not diagnosis).

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ

Conversational Features

Any chat or coaching features use AI language models to respond to your questions in an educational context.

โœ๏ธ

Writing Assistance

Journaling prompts, goal-setting suggestions, and some template content are AI-assisted.

2 What AI Cannot Do in SOS

โš ๏ธ
AI is not a replacement for professional judgment

No matter how sophisticated, AI cannot replace the judgment of a qualified physician, licensed therapist, certified financial advisor, or attorney.

โœ“ AI in SOS Can

  • Provide general educational information
  • Help you track and visualize your data
  • Suggest questions to ask your doctor
  • Explain financial concepts in plain language
  • Surface patterns in your logged data
  • Help with goal-setting frameworks

โœ— AI in SOS Cannot

  • Diagnose medical conditions
  • Prescribe or recommend specific medications
  • Replace therapy or psychiatric care
  • Provide personalized investment advice
  • Give you legal advice for your situation
  • Respond to emergencies or crises

3 Known Limitations of AI

We want you to use AI-powered features with informed expectations. Here are honest limitations:

3.1 AI Can Be Wrong

AI language models can generate plausible-sounding but incorrect information. This is sometimes called "hallucination." We work to reduce this through human review and grounding AI responses in verified sources, but errors may still occur. Always verify important health, financial, or legal information with qualified professionals and authoritative sources.

3.2 AI Lacks Personal Context

AI does not know your full medical history, your complete financial picture, your personal circumstances, or the nuances of your life situation. General information from AI must be interpreted in the context of your specific situation โ€” which only you and your professionals can fully understand.

3.3 AI May Reflect Biases

AI systems are trained on large datasets that may contain cultural, demographic, or historical biases. We work to identify and mitigate biases in SOS, but we acknowledge this is an ongoing challenge across the AI industry. Health research and financial literature themselves contain historical biases that AI may reflect.

3.4 AI Knowledge Has a Cutoff

AI models are trained on data up to a certain point in time and may not reflect the most current medical guidelines, research, financial regulations, or legal standards. Always check with current sources for time-sensitive decisions.

3.5 AI Is Not Emotionally Intelligent

While we strive to make AI interactions empathetic and supportive, AI does not truly understand emotions, trauma, grief, or the complexity of human experience. In sensitive areas like mental health, grief support, and addiction recovery, AI features are supplemental tools only โ€” not therapy.

4 Human Oversight

We believe AI should augment human judgment, not replace it. Our approach to AI oversight:

5 Your Data and AI

5.1 How AI Uses Your Data

When AI personalization features are active, your app usage data and voluntarily entered tracking data may be processed to generate insights and recommendations. This processing occurs to provide you with the Service.

5.2 Your Control

5.3 We Do Not Train AI on Your Data

We do not use your personal health, financial, or journal data to train AI models. Your personal data is used only to provide the Service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy.

5.4 Third-Party AI Services

SOS may use third-party AI services (such as large language model APIs) to power certain features. When we do, we use contractual data processing agreements to ensure your data is not retained or used for third-party model training. We will update this disclosure when we add new AI service providers.

6 How We Label AI Content

We believe in clear labeling so you always know when AI is involved:

We will never intentionally deceive you about whether content is human- or AI-generated.

7 Evolving AI Use

AI technology evolves rapidly. As we add or change AI-powered features in SOS, we will update this disclosure and notify users of material changes. We are committed to:

8 Questions or Concerns

We take AI transparency seriously. If you have questions about how AI is used in SOS, encounter an AI response that seems wrong or harmful, or have concerns about AI's role in any feature, please reach out.
